Total 740 Care Packages
We took video of the packing event this time and will have that available online as soon as it's ready for the internet. We packed all day both Saturday and Sunday. We had 18 volunteers on Saturday and 12 volunteers on Sunday. It was very chilly both days but we stayed very busy and got our work done by 2:00 in the afternoon on Sunday. The post office picked up 542 packages Saturday and the remainder on Sunday. A thank you to Jimmy John's Sub Sandwiches for providing free sandwich trays for the hungry volunteers on Saturday.

We've finally got the post office coming to our house to pick up the packages! We packed all day both Saturday and Sunday. We had 14 volunteers on Saturday and 8 volunteers on Sunday. The packages included the standard items, food and basic toiletries, as well as prayer books and personalized letters. It was hot and sweaty work, but not nearly as hot as it is in Iraq! A thank you to Jimmy John's Sub Sandwiches for providing free sandwich trays for the hungry volunteers on both days. They've provided sandwiches for every Columbia, MO packing event we've had. Eat at Jimmy Johns and tell them thanks for supporting our troops!

Estimate 640 Care Packages
We've been packing throughout the month of May, and hoping to finish up over Memorial day weekend. The photo that you see here is of three of the kids that came with their Moms from about 2 1/2 hours away from our facility. They packed and worked all day, and here they are, sacked out and worn out, on the trip back home! The kids each have a brother serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Elkgrove Village, Illinois Packing Event, February 12, 2005
155 Care Packages
This event was organized by Georgette Frank, Gold Star Mom who lost her Marine son Phil Frank in April of 2004. February's shipment included hundreds of packages of batteries, several hundred pair of socks, and lots of food and toiletry items. Nicholas Larson's family was there to assist with the care package packing along with two additional Gold Star Families, parents Georgette and Roy, and Mom Angie. The Care Package Project was begun in Memory of Nicholas Larson. We had lots of local folks volunteering their time, and several members and volunteers from MarineParents.com attended as well. The "packing party" was an amazing event filled with warmth and compassion from the Marine Corps families and friends. The photo is of Tracy Della Vecchia, founder, Georgette Frank, and Greg Green, volunteer manager in charge of the Care Package Project.
